Abstract : Although the insect hemocytes are not assigned the job of transporting respiratory gases like intake of oxygen and expulsion of carbondioxide, yet a good number of hemocytes performing different functions have been reported in different groups of insects. Associated with the absence of erythrocytes or the red blood cells providing red colour and performing the prime function of transportation of gases, variation in the hemocytes of insect hemolymph is a subject of concern and investigation. The present article is an attempt to bring on record the variation profile of hemocytes in giant water bug, Lethocerous indicus Westwood with respect to the sex. The variation in the hemocytes of both male and female adult bugs have been recorded  from  the random samples of hemolymph and camera ludia diagrams of each type of hemocyte observed have been presented.
