Abstract : Village haats are the back bone of the rural economy in Jharkhand. Several biweekly and daily haats (village market) are a regular feature. Villagers, specially tribal, from surrounding areas come here to sell their agricultural and forest produces. It is interesting to see that some flowers are sold here as an alternative source of vegetables. These flowers serve as diet supplements for the poor who cannot afford the cost of fresh vegetables.
