Fish diversity in the freshwater lakes, rivers, flood plains and swamps of Kenya

Abstract: The chain of freshwater lakes rivers, flood, plains and swamps are the major assets of Kenya. They are the natural habitats of rich fish fauna. The present communication depicts the current status of fish diversity. The freshwater bodies harbour 38 families, 86 genera and 184 species. The members of Cyprinidae family dominate the fish population.
