Abstract : The gnus Neocamallanus was erected by Ali (1956)1 but since then it was subjected to criticisms by a number of authors, whereas other authors supported its existence. The worms belonging to this genus were transferred to the genus Paracamallanus erected by Yorke and maplestone (1926)39 by Chabaud (1975)34, Petter (1978, 1979)35 & Sood (1980)36 on the ground that the buccal valve is followed by a large pharynx.
The authors have examined the literatures cited in the articles & examined some species & have found that the species transferred to the genus Paracammalanus does show large pharynx behind the buccal valves. Neocamallanus species are without tridents & without any large pharynx following the buccal valves.
Hence, the present authors have reasons to revalidate the genus Neocamallanus which is now having many species in it.
