Abstract : Xanthomonas campestris pv oryzae1 (Xco) is the causal agent of bacterial leaf blight (BLB) disease throughout the Jharkhand specially in Chaibasa region. To detect a pathogen in three rice cultivars, the morphological features must be known with basic routine microbiological techniques. Xanthomonas campestris pv. oryzae (Xco) is a Gram negative rod shaped. The bacterium grows on sucrose pentose containing agar media producing pale yellow pigmented colonies, usually motile with a single polar flagellum.
Key words: Xanthomonas campestris pv. oryzae, cultivars, Gram negative, flagellum.
