Abstract : Primary production of the Belahi Neelkantha pond was studied for two consecutive years 2009 and 2010. The values of GPP ranged from 0.94 mgC/l/hr to 5.34 mgC/l/hr in the first year and 1.23 mgC/l/hr to 6.25 mgC/l/hr in the second year. NPP ranged from -2.16 mgC/l/hr to 2.45 mgC/l/hr in the first year and -2.38 mgC/l/hr to 2.79 mgC/l/hr in the second year. The values of NPP/GPP ranged from -0.7 to 0.54 in the first year and -0.91 to 0.66 in the second year of observation respectively. The values of CR ranged from 0.49 mgC/l/hr to 7.5 mgC/l/hr in the first year and 1.42 mgC/l/hr to 7.13 mgC/l/hr in the second year. The CR as percent of GPP exhibited a range of 46.27 to 169.85 in the first year and 33.73 to 191.06 in the second year.
