Abstract: In a survey of grasshopper in some localities of northeastern Patna, carried out from August 2017 to December 2018, 8 grasshoppers under three families were recorded. Family Acrididae was found to be the predominant group of grasshoppers represented by four species, which was 51% of the total species collected. The Acridids collected can be classified under two subfamilies. Family Catantopidae was the second largest group represented by three species falling under two subfamilies, and this family contributed 29% to the total grasshopper species recorded in this study. Among the different habitats, paddy supported the highest number of 5 species (62.5 %). The painted grasshopper Locusta migratoria (Linnaeus) was collected from many plants viz., Maize, Arhar, Wild plants. The maximum numbers of species were recorded from Bansghat during the entire study period.
