Abstract : Terminalia chebula ( Retz.) belongs to the family combretaceae is commonly known as hara or haritaki. It is deciduous tree and it is economically medicinal plant. Explant of Terminalia chebula ( Retz.) were cultured on MS basal medium supplemented with different growth regulators like Auxin (2,4-D, IBA, NAA, IAA), Cytokinin (BAP, KN, Zeatin) either alone or in combination. Callus formation was seen on medium containing 2,4-D. At lower concentration of IAA, NAA-root formation was observed in leaf,node and shoot-tip culture.Most suitable medium noted for shoot formation from leaf,node,shoot-tip is MS with BAP (2.5 mgL¯¹) and IAA (1.0 mgL¯¹).The other effective combination is MS with BAP (3.0 mgL¯¹) and NAA (1.5 mgL¯¹) in shoot-tip culture.Culture kept under various condition of light and temperature to find the suitable physical condition for the best growth.
