Abstract : Freshwater snail, Bellamya bengalensis is edible in Simdega district of Jharkhand. It is abundantly found in ponds, rivers and paddy fields. In the present dissertation protein value of wet muscle was estimated and it was found to be 18.42 ± 1.46%. Because of its nutritional value indigenous tribe of Jharkhand take it as curry, and it is sold in the local market at high rate of Rs 100/Kg.
