Conservation of ethnomedicinal plants used against malaria by tribes of South Chotanagpur, Jharkhand, India

Abstract : South Chotanagpur region of Jharkhand is a tribal rich area, the tribes are mainly depend on Forest and plants for most of their needs. Malaria is a deadly disease which is caused by a Protozoa the carrier of which are female anopheles mosquito which causes Malaria of different types when through mosquito bite the protozoa is passed to humans .Tribes depend upon medicinal plants to eradicate Malaria and prevent it .In the present paper after survey work 35 plants commonly found and many on verge of extinction have been described with their botanical description and various ways of conservation like preparing Digital herbarium and adopting tissue culture method for conservation of these Ethno medicinally important plant used against Malaria by tribes of South Chotanagpur region of Jharkhand has been described.
