Biochemical changes in Channa punctatus (Bloch) exposed to sub-lethal combination of copper and mercury

 Abstract : Acute 96 hour’s bioassay experiment of combined exposure to Copper and Mercury were conducted for fish Channa punctatus (Bloch). The fish were exposed to one fifth of LC₅₀ dose of combined metals (Copper and Mercury). The combination exhibited synergistic toxic effect on fish. A significant decrease was observed in blood serum, Na⁺ concentration, K⁺ concentration, Cl^– concentration and protein concentration.
