A comparative study of the species richness and diversity of Chlorophycean assemblage of two city based polluted tanks of Ranchi

Abstract : A statue report of algal (chlorophyceae) community and species richness of two city based tanks of Ranchi has been investigated. The present status report contains 52 species belonging to 22 genera. The species rich genera are Oedogonium, Closterium, Scenedesmus and Cosmarium. The richness has been attributed to nutrient rich polluted environment of the tanks. Thu data present herein can be used for biomonitoring the pollution level in this region.
