Abstract :_Present study has been made to investigate the effect of actute oral toxicity of NaPCP (Sodium pentachlorophenate – a fungal preservative) on the enzymes of R. norvegicus under various exposure intervals (210 mg/kg/b.w. LD50 24 h). The study showed marked increase of alkaline phosphates, S-AST and S-ALT at 7 and 14 hours while at 21 hours it returned towards the normal condition. The increased value of enzymes indicate that toxicant produced adverse effect on hepatic system and myocardical tissue of sodium penta chlorophenata treated rat.
