Abstract : Attack of parasitoids can be an effective mortality factor to reduce the plant infestation levels and population density of stem borers in cereals. Exploitation of effective parasitoid species is possible by way of need-based releases on large scale or by conserving them in natural habitat. Basic research is therefore needed on conservation techniques, non target effects, modeling and socio-economics so that viable integration may be possible in  the future pest management strategy to make it effective and economical for marginal and progressive farmers in the tropics.
