Abstract: Boerhaavia diffusa Linn. (Purnarnawa Sag) is distributed in subtropical and tropical regions of the world. Mostly species of Boerhaavia are adapted in base dry sandy soils. The initiation period of seed germination may take place in 1 to 2 weeks. The vegetative growth of Boerhaavia diffusa Linn. was found to increase with the application of NAA, IAA, GA3 and NPK mixture. People use this part of leafy vegetable in their daily diet. It contains a large number of compounds as flavonoids, alkaloids, steroids, triterpenoids, lipids, lignins, carbohydrates, proteins etc. It is rich in vitamins and minerals. It is nutritionally and medicinal used in daily diet on the basis of traditional knowledge. The plant resources are also used against various diseases like oedema, heart problems, low blood pressure, anaemia, urinary disorders, abdominal pain, asthma, cholera, cough, constipation, fever, gonorrhea, jaundice, kidney disorders etc.
