Abstract : The present investigation was conducted to assess the effects of sub lethal (LC0) and semi lethal (LC50) concentrations of the mixture of various agrochemicals (Ekalux EC25, Cypermethrin 10%, Fenvalerate 20% EC, Omite and Lambda Cyhalothrin 2.7% EC) on carbohydrate metabolism in Heteropneustes fossilis (Ham.) in different sexes during different breeding periods. The level of serum glucose in both sexes during pre-breeding, breeding and post-breeding periods were highly significant (P<0.001) in mixture of agrochemicals. The liver glycogen level in both sexes with the mixtures of agrochemicals during breeding period is comparatively low but at few occasions no consistent results were observe. Highly significant (P<0.001) values for LC0 and LC50 concentrations for the mixture of agrochemicals during all the reproductive periods were obtained. The muscle glycogen level was obtained comparatively low in breeding period than prebreeding and post breeding periods. The efficacy of the mixture of agrochemicals in LC0 and LC50 concentrations for all the reproductive periods were highly significant (P<0.001). The brain glycogen level showed decreasing tendencies in breeding period in comparison to prebreeding and post breeding periods. However, the value of ‘t’ test showed highly significant (P<0.001) in all the cases. The results indicated the extent of damage caused to the test fish depended on concentrations of the mixture of agrochemicals.
