Abstract : In the present investigation multiple mating and reproductive behaviour of Poecilocerus pictus was investigated. Multiple mating contributed to the male and female conspicuous benefits, hence the female showed a shortened preoviposition period, enhanced fecundity and fertility, regular ovipositional rhythmicity and increased gonotrophic activity. The males were the active partners while the females were the passive ones. This insect had not pair specificity during mating. The freshly moulted and just oviposited females were non-receptive.Multiple mating helped in sperm replenishment and maintained high hatchability in the eggs.
