Colchicine induced mitotic abnormalities in two varieties of Hordeum vulgare L.

Abstract : Effect of colchicine was investigated on two varieties of Hordeum vulgare L. var. IVT – BARLEY – 8JB – 124 – 30 and var. RD – 2712. The seeds of both the varieties were treated with three different concentrations of colchicine. A number of mitotic abnormalities were recorded. Variety IVT – BARLEY – 8JB – 124 – 30 was resistant while variety RD – 2712 was sensitive towards different doses of colchicine.
