Abstract : In South Asian countries, the incidence of coronary heart disease and the type-2 diabetes are comparatively higher. The author has explained the role of platelet physiology and antiplatelet therapy. Possibly platelet inhibition specially of vWF (von Willebrand Factor) interaction with GPlb platelet receptor is an important mechanism in the management of acute stroke.
