Abstract : Sodium fluoride ( NaF) was administered orally to rats (Rattus norvegicus) at 25mg/kg/bw daily for 30 days. The animals were then sacrificed and the spleen was studied under light and transmission electron microscope. In the spleen of rats receiving NaF, disorganization in the nodular white pulp was seen with development of cracks. There was disorganization and change in the shape of the nucleus of lymphocytes in the nodules. It is concluded that fluoride adversely interfere with the activity of lymphocytes and weaken the strength of immune system of the body.
