Abstract : The present study deals with the changes in opercular beat, behaviour and physico-chemical characteristics of toxic media after LC50 Cartriz intoxicated fish, Channa punctatus (Bloch). Opercular beat in treated fish initially recorded as 59 per minute within one hour, showing decline to 35/min. within 96 hrs. The fish also showed abnormal behaviour, finally death occured. The physico-chemical factors of the toxic media were also changed. Necessary cautions are advised to save the fish wealth.
